Cheers for the comment. Chester and Accrington are fairly poor sides (touch wood, got Chester in the week) who tend to rely on the longer ball. While effective at times, I agree it's awful to watch. As for Bradford, on the evidence of this game I fancy them to go up as well as Dale. They certainly have the explosive firepower with Boulding and Thorne that Dale sometimes lack, something that this game made obvious. Best of luck to them for the end of the season (except at Spotland). Whatever keeps Bury down.

Pork and sweet pastry? Sunshine? Are you sure you were in Yorkshire?

More seriously, I blogged on this game from a Bradford perspective and I wrote that "‘Dale had more of the ball in the first half, but City were more clinical in front of goal and defended manfully against tricky opponents who played good football and showed some clever touches." I think it was Le Fondre who hit the bar. Shaw got in behind our defence a couple of times but was caught offside. Rochdale are certainly a better team to watch than Chester City and Accrington Stanley judging by the respective visits to Valley Parade.

I agree. But after Luton, Rotherham and Bournemouth had to be penalised similarly, the powers that be had boxed themselves in. At least they're making a good fist of it.

The points reduction was a complete joke, how that is supposed to help a club survive and make a go of it I do not know...

Latics fan here, will be down at the game tomorrow. As you say, it will be a poignant and sad occasion given Ernies involvement with both clubs.

I'm involved with a fundraising group who Latics kindly let do a bucket collection at Saturdays game against Millwall specifically to fund research into Malignant Melanoma at Christie Hospital, we raised just over £1000. Our aim is to raise enough funds to bring a clinical trial to the UK for further research and development to hopefully one day find a cure for this awful disease. The Christie Hospital is the only hospital in the UK with the facilities to undertake this very important research.

Hopefully one day we will be able to help people like Ernie.

Our website is www.factor50.org.uk and there is a link to donate online if you wish to help. Any assistance you can give us would be warmly received. Thanks.
